Black and White and Red All Over

Last week was multicultural week at my school; the whole school celebrates all of the different languages/countries in my school with food and games.  I take French, so I decided to dress the part a bit by wearing some stereotypical french clothes (see: stripes, red flats, vintage gold).  Also, I had the photo shoot for my senior yearbook and it was my 17th birthday, so it was a very busy week!  I was so excited the weather warmed up a bit and I could FINALLY wear a skirt without tights.

American Apparel top, Prabal Gurung for Target skirt, Madewell flats, Cult Gaia flower crown, Anthropologie bangles, Dannijo bow bracelet, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch and bag, vintage necklace.

Happy monday:)

Sporty

I really enjoyed seeing a modern, sporty edge on some of the runway looks this season.  I always wanted to be able to pull off that minimal, cool look, but I don't think it really suits my body type or typical style personality.  Instead, I decided to just take some of the sporty trends from the clothes I already own.  This isn't really the most "sporty" outfit, but I think it definitely captures the spirt!

I incorporated the color-blocking/stripes trend with the sweater, wore my hair in a ponytail, and, of course, paired the look with the ever-controversial wedge sneaker.  A lot of people dislike these, but I back them 100% if only because they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned.  This outfit really wouldn't be "me" if I didn't pile on the jewelry, though!

Just to prove to you that this look is "sporty", take a look at the surprise action shot at the end!

Here is the proof that this outfit can indeed be worn whilst participating in a sport-like activity: a shot of me shooting (and making, might I add) a basket after my photo shoot:)

Madewell sunniessweater, and rings, Free People floral jeans, Ash wedge sneakers, H&M necklace.

Have a great week!

You Are My Sunshine

Free People dress, Madewell bag and sunglasses, Cole Haan flats

"You are my Sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy, when sky's are grey.  You'll never know dear, how much I love you, so please don't take my sunshine away": my favorite song that my mom used to sing to me as a child.  It seemed a fitting title for my neutral outfit post and given that today felt like to first real day of spring.  I'm not even wearing tights with this!  Cannot wait to get back into spring clothes.

Happy monday!

April Showers

First day of April, and, like clockwork, it started to pour as I was taking these pictures.  A little water never hurt anybody though, and so I was finally able to do an outfit post after what seems like forever.  I have been really busy the past few weeks with major tests, college tours, blah blah blah.  I am hoping after the next few months I will have nicer weather to take photos and more time to post.

Anyway, this is my attempt to combat april showers by bringing early may flowers.  I actually was (briefly) nicknamed "floral" by an annoying kid in my english class a few years back for wearing the print so often, but it's just such a nice way to transition to spring!  I have been really into the matchy-matchy, monochromatic thing lately (not sure why), and I also recently bought my first pair of reflective sunglasses.  I am totally obsessed with that trend, and these go perfectly with the colors of my outfit.  (sidenote: I was really hoping for a good prank today for April Fool's day but I think it's kind of a forgotten day by now; I wish more people attempted jokes in school!  Did any of you have any good pranks?)

Madewell top, jeans, and chambray shirt, Cole Haan flats, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, Dannijo stingray cuff, sunglasses from local flea market.

Also, I finally got a new dslr camera!  This was my first post using it, and I can't wait to do more cool things with it once I figure it out! Let me know if you like it:)

Hope everyone had a great first monday of April!
